O-Rings. O-rings are circular sealing elements with circular cross-sections. They are mainly used in static applications. The sizes are determined by the inside diameter and the cross-section diameter. Parker O-Rings are manufactured according to international metric and imperial standards such as AS 568B, DIN ISO 3601 and JIS.

The standard sizes for o-rings include 20 sizes used to seal straight-thread tube fittings on a boss. A boss is a cylindrical projection on a casting or forging. The end of that projection is machined to provide a flat, smooth surface for sealing. Straight threads used with an o-ring provide a better seal than tapered threads used alone.
